"Hey Barney, do you want to buy a ticket to the dance?" Eifel yelled at me.
For some reason she was always picking on me, "sorry bitter witch of the east, I don't need a dance to validate my worth. But enjoy yourself, dances like these are all you'll have to hold you over after your third husband divorce you for a younger girl."
"oooooh," a few students said while other's snicker.
Eifel on the other hand looking pissed off as she processes what I just said, "whatever, you couldn't get a date anyways".
"Let's go eat, that was too funny," Nico said grabbing my arms and leading me away from Eifel in her groupies.
"When did you get here?" I asked her.
"I was right behind you before Eifel said something, shocked you didn't notice me."
"Just lost in thought, you think the teachers would believe me if I told them old Lace ate my homework," I asked her.
"Did that really happen?" Karolina asked, and sat next to me facing Nico.
"It did and Gert had to stay up all night trying to redo it," my little sister said sitting next to Karolina.
"Where's Alex and Chase?" Molly asked.
"Now that you mentioned Alex, how did your date with him go last week?" I asked Nico.
"I don't know it was fun but I don't know. It was just different, for the longest I saw Alex as a brother and now this".
"So, you're not dating him, right," Karolina asked.
"No, it was just a date between friends. I don't think I want to date him".
Karolina nods and I notice her blushing, could it be that she liked Nico or Alex.
No way, that couldn't be, her and Chase are the perfect Barbie and Ken couple. Chase would be heartbroken if he found out, I must be reading too much into it.
As soon as that thought left my mind, Chase walked in the cafeteria with his lacrosse team. He looks around, searching for something before we make eye contact and for about 5 seconds we just stared at each other. Until one of his lacrosse buddies tapped him on the shoulder and I turned to face Nico.
"Hey guys," Chase walks up and says.
"Hey Chase, are you coming tonight to Nico's?" Molly asked.
"What's happening at Nico's?" he asked.
"Our meeting, didn't Gert tell you?" Nico asked.
"No, she didn't," he said and I felt him staring at the side of my face while I continued to eat my sandwich.
"But you'll be there, right?" Nico asked.
"I already agreed to do something with the guys after today's match, I don't know. Wished I knew earlier, it was going down today".
"That sucks, maybe you can come chill with us afterward, we'll probably be there for a while," Molly said.
"Hey Chase, coach needs us," one of his lacrosse buddies yelled.
"I gotta go, but I'll try to make it Nico," Chase said before leaving the table with half my sandwich.
"Hey Stein, that's my sandwich" I yelled after him.
"Now it's my sandwich," he yelled back before bitting into my turkey sandwich and walking out the cafeteria with his friends.
"Actually, I made that sandwich," Molly said to me.
"Ya, for me. Not for Gert and Chase," I said.
"That's what you get for not telling him about the meeting," Nico added.
