Gert, Gert ever since I could remember she's been there for me. Although I've always been useless, and not good enough, she always had my back.
As much as I didn't like this stupid bet, I had to get those guys to leave her alone.
Maybe this might just get her to see that I'm not totally useless.
"Chase sweetheart, is everything ok? You seem distracted" my mother asked.
"Ya, I'm good just thinking about something," I said quickly.
"Something or someone," she asked with a knowingly smirk.
"You can talk to me, I'm a great listener and I won't judge" she continued.
Mom is super smart, sometimes I think she's smarter than my dad and he's known genius. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like for her if she didn't marry dad and had me. It probably would have been her face on the cover of magazines and a room filled with awards.
"I don't know, it's nothing really. Just this dance at school and I don't know" I said stumbling on my words.
Do I ask her how to get Gert to go with me?
Will that seem strange, I don't want her to find out about the bet.
"Are you having a hard time asking Karolina?" she asked and I blushed.
Did everyone know I had a thing for her?
"Just be yourself and ask her. You're an amazing young man Chase, it might seem biased because I'm your mom but you're such a sweet boy that any girl would be happy as your date."
"Any girl but Gert," I thought.
"Gertrude Yorkes?" my mother asked confused probably because I actually said that out loud instead of in my head.
"Ughh, what is it about the Yorkes now?" my dad walked in.
"Did the cancel by any chance?" he continues talking to mom as if I'm not even in the room.
"I don't think so, I was just talking to Chase about his school friends," my mom said giving me a smile. She wasn't going to tell dad about our talk or my slip of the tongue when it came to Gert.
"Oh Chase, you're here. How was school?" he asked.
"It was good, I"
"Janet have you seen my red Gucci tie? I want to wear it for the PRIDE meeting tonight" he said interrupting and as always ignoring me.
"Chase was trying to tell you about his day" my mom tried but it was pointless.
"It's cool mom, I gotta go," I said and gave her a quick kiss on the cheeks.
"So, have you see the tie?" I could hear my dad in the background ask.
