Chapter 0 - Limbo
I stand on a white halo of light that quickly fades, causing me to lose my balance. I’m now falling. Falling slowly, no, quickly? I can’t tell. The pitch-black around me provides no frame of reference. How long will I keep falling? What will happen when I hit the floor? Wait, why am I falling? Now that I think about it, there’s no reason as to why I’m in this situation…
Ah, I get it. I’m dreaming, aren’t I? The fact that I haven’t woken up yet must mean I’m in a lucid dream, huh? Then it’s all right. I’ll just move around.
But I couldn’t. I struggled, trying to move backward, forward, left and right. Yet, I couldn’t do anything. Like a raccoon with Baylisascaris, I feel myself slowly fading away, my muscles relaxing, my thoughts of my perpetual doom wavering in and out. This is strange, isn’t it? I should be able to move, get myself out of this hopeless situation. Instead, I lie powerless to the forces around me. Even though I know this is just a dream, this unsettling feeling won’t leave me. I can tell that the shivers going down my spine are not because of my descent, that even though my body is weak, my fists are closed tightly. If I had to describe this in one word, there’s only one thing that comes to mind. The path with no end in sight.
